THE LONG STORY:
My name is Misty. I like to think of myself as just a self-employed, small town Southern girl who is still trying to find her place in this world. I started CEO of Me® in early 2011 to share lessons and experiences about life and business out of the desire to help others and pursue the need to be more creative. I have been a real CEO of Me® since 2006.
In my past life I was an 8-5 underpaid, under-appreciated, under-confident, administrative assistant. That all changed one chilly fall day when I was fired from my full-time job. Little did I know those tear-filled and fear-filled steps out the door that day were the beginning of an amazing journey God was going to take me on to becoming a CEO of Me®.
In the past 6+ years I have enjoyed some incredible experiences and achieved some great accomplishments. I have had the opportunity to become the Director of an amazing team with one of the world’s top direct sales companies (Tupperware). My team and I have received regional and national recognition. I have earned the keys and title to a free convertible, several free vacations, jewelry and all kinds of other prizes. I have gained so much confidence and self-worth through the wonderful friendships I have built through this business. I owned another successful website for women in small businesses from 2006-2009. I have free-lanced as a Virtual Assistant and web designer doing custom graphics and WordPress designs from time to time and now I am blogging too so that I can inspire, encourage & empower others!
I didn’t tell you any of that to boast or brag. I am as down to earth and humble as anyone you will meet. I’m also super self-conscious and struggle daily to overcome my desperate need to please others and for people to like me and validate me. I am also a sinner, saved by grace and working daily to increase my faith and learn to follow God more than my own desires.
I shared all of that because I want you to know that dreams do come true even for shy, very imperfect, small-town girls. When you work hard and learn how to use the talents, abilities and resources that God has given you and focus on helping others, good things will happen for you.
“Your needs will be met once you find a way of projecting your energy towards fulfilling the needs of others” – Stuart Wilde

Being self-employed is not as easy or glamorous as it may sound. It takes a lot of hard work, dedication, discipline and determination, especially as a young, independent woman. There is a lot of pressure each month to make sure I make enough income. Small business and the Internet are always changing and evolving. I am determined to do whatever it takes and whatever I have to do (that’s legal and moral of course) to remain self-employed. The rewards of being my own boss far outweigh the sacrifices!
Being a CEO of Me® doesn’t just apply to someone who is self-employed though. Anyone can be a CEO of Me® no matter what you do for a living or where you are in life. I believe that everyone has unique personalities and God-given talents that should be used to honor God so we can make the most of the time, finances and possessions we have been given and create a legacy with the time we have here on earth.
What can you expect from CEO of Me®? You can enjoy inspiration and ideas to help you learn how to live a better life and to work smarter, not harder. I will also be sharing small business success tips, marketing and leadership skills that you can use no matter what profession you are in. I get excited about glue and glitter but I don’t have a lot of patience so you will see some great craft & DIY ideas that are easy and affordable to make. I also love to eat a good meal but don’t really like to cook, so I will be sharing recipes and meal plans that taste great and are easy to make! You will also find spiritual encouragement as I share what I am learning in my daily walk in my relationship with Jesus Christ. Most of all you can expect me, just me trying to be real and give back and help others and sharing about my journey, adventures and ideas.
I felt it was important to choose a verse that sums up what my hopes are for CEO of Me. I chose Hebrews 10:23-24 which says “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.”

My passion in life is to help others find their passion, pursue their purpose and develop their potential so they can live their best lives and “spur others on to good deeds” too. There is a lot more to my story than what is in this (not as short as I originally intended it to be) “About Me” page. I hope you will continue to visit CEO of Me for more lessons and laughter about life and business for a long time to come! Be sure to sign up for Daily Email Updates and Join our Facebook Page!
