My theme word and biggest goal for 2013 is “balance”. Balancing my relationships, my small businesses, family, friends and everything else that gets thrown at me. I am not the best juggler. I tend to bite off more than I can chew and I have a hard time saying no.
Learning to take on less and balance what is left is my focus this year. An important part of keeping things in balance includes taking some time out for myself too. Whether it’s just a few minutes each day or a few hours once a week, time spent just relaxing, refreshing and renewing is so important to our physical, mental and spiritual health.
My favorite way to relax and unwind is to give myself a mini pedicure, paint my toenails and then curl up on my sofa with a blanket and a good book on my Kindle Fire. (Have I told you lately how much I love my new Kindle?) I will usually grab a yummy snack or make a cup of hot chocolate. I’m trying to eat healthier so strawberries with some stevia added make a nice, healthier treat. (Although I would rather be eating the strawberries in a pie, cake or cupcake instead of by themselves… True story, but I am trying to be good!)
I received several Walmart & Sam’s Club gift cards for Christmas and finally found time to go to Sam’s Club this week. I mostly purchased grocery and food items. I thought that was a rather boring way to use my gift cards though so I decided to check out the books, household and personal care sections to find a little something to treat myself with. I mean, I love to eat but I wanted something I could pamper myself with too. (You can view my shopping trip here on Google +)
Sam’s Club had a great deal on one of my favorite brands of lotion – NIVEA Essentially Enriched. It was priced less than $9 for a twin pack of big 16.9 oz bottles. What a great value for a great product! If you haven’t ever used the NIVEA Essentially Enriched lotion, it is great for helping with dry skin especially in the cold winter months or in the summer when you are out in the sun a lot. It has a clean, fresh scent so even the men in your life would enjoy using it as they wouldn’t end up smelling like a flower. It is a thicker lotion so it rubs in smoothly and keeps your skin feeling hydrated for hours. I especially like to use it on my feet which are bad to get dry and cracked. (Admit it- yours do too!)
Last night was one of those nights that I was able to take a little me time. I sat down and pampered my feet with the NIVEA lotion and painted my toenails with some new polish my mom gave me for Christmas. While my toenails dried, I started reading a new book on my Kindle Fire - Unglued by Lysa TerKeurst. I hope to be able to enjoy “me time” like this at least once a week throughout the year to help keep myself balanced, refreshed and energized to reach all the goals I have set for myself this year.
What are your favorite ways to pamper yourself and spend a little quality me time? Do you like to pamper your tootsies and enjoy a good book like I do too? You can find inspiration and ideas of other ways to pamper yourself on this NIVEA Moments pinterest board.
PS. Do you know someone who could use a little “me time” of their own? Why not pay it forward and give them a little “me time” gift like this one I made for a friend. It includes 1 of the NIVEA lotions, a pair of warm, fuzzy socks, nail polish and tissues.
I would love for you to post your thoughts in the comments below and share this post if you liked it. Thank you!

So true…we always tend to take care of everyone and everything else, before we even THINK about something we need. And, yes, us girls need some pampering time too. It’s so thoughtful of you to include one for your friend as a way of “paying it forward”. Hopefully she turns around and does the same.
