Going Back to College as an Adult is Easy with Ivy Bridge College!

One of my biggest regrets in life is that I did not finish my college degree. I do have an Associate’s Degree and have taken several additional classes. I just never did get to go back and complete my Bachelor’s Degree.

I wish that I would have just went straight to a four year university right out of high school. I had the opportunity to do so, but my priorities were not with my education, a career or future of my own back then.  They were focused more on dating and getting married. Obviously that did not work out and even if it had I know I would still regret not having completed my Bachelor’s Degree.  If you are in high school and reading this right now please head my advice to make your education a priority, relationships will wait if they are the right ones.

After I grew a little older and a little wiser, I decided I wanted to go back and finish my degree. I enrolled in the local community college again to take the rest of my transfer classes.  I went for two or three semesters but I did not finish or enroll in a degree program.

It is hard to go back to school as an adult. When you work full-time, have a family, are involved in community and charitable organizations and church, it is almost impossible to attend classes in person 2-4 nights a week. Not only that, it can be difficult to understand how to apply for financial aid. Then trying to decipher what classes you need for the degree you want to pursue and how to transition from a 2 year to a 4 year degree program, it can just be plain overwhelming.

I turned 30 last year and had an early mid-life crisis. One of the goals I decided I wanted to be sure I achieved before I hit the next decade (oh my goodness will I really be turning 40 in 9 years?) was to finally finish my Bachelor’s Degree.  No more making excuses, no more putting it off, no more regrets, I will achieve this goal!

People have different reasons for going back to college as an adult. It could be that you want to change careers or maybe you lost your job and want to be able to gain the skills and knowledge to obtain a job in a new career field. Perhaps you are a single mom and need to obtain a degree to get a better job to be able to provide for yourself and your family. Maybe you are at the age where your kids are heading off to college somewhere and you have a little more time on your hands and want to do something to enlighten and empower yourself.  Maybe you are like me and not only want to further your education, but to reach a goal you have had in your heart since you were young.

Ivy Bridge College offers a great solution for busy adult women, moms and dads to be able to get a 4 year degree online, in their time, on their own schedule.  Their focus is on helping women (and moms in particular) to successfully earn their associates and bachelor’s degree. They offer great support and a flexible schedule for their classes. You can earn an associate’s degree in as little as 17 months. Ivy Bridge College has partnered with numerous 4 year universities and will help you transfer to a 4 year school to earn your Bachelor’s Degree.

I like that Ivy Bridge offers career paths and makes it really easy to know what classes you need for your Associate’s Degree to be able to just transfer on and complete your Bachelor’s Degree.  They offer 1 on 1 support including weekly success coaching and free tutoring to help you out right from the start from filling out your application to registering for classes and completing your degree.  Best of all, their tuition fees are about 1/3 the cost of other colleges and there is financial aid available as well.

I would love to go back to school because I eventually had to drop out to care for disabled father and mentally I’ll mother right after I married at 25 with my husband by my side. We never got that newlywed stage and for me college was just another thing we needed to sacrifice and now I’m at a place that I’d love to go back and study marketing! It’s just financially feasible because we sunk all of our money into my parents home and savings and during a very rough year with my mom she took everything, it was devastating but were over coming it ans now live in a 1 bedroom apartment where we are getting by and trying to be “OK” again.

So I would love to study in their marketing program!

I’d love to take more classes. I do have my bachelor’s degree but it’s not in a field I’m actually using, and quite honestly – I just love to learn! But you are so right, there just isn’t time to drive to class a few nights a week. Even if I had a sitter, it would be forfeiting what little time I spend with my daughter after work on weeknights. Classes online after bedtime would be perfect!

I have been toying with the idea of heading back to college for a few years. At 47, it is hard to imagine getting back into the work force after spending 20+ years as a stay at home mom! we live in a sort of rural area and a degree would certainly “up my ante” as far as being considered for employment at a company that pays a decent wage. I think communications or tech would work best. I will be speaking to someone from the school when they call.
So, how many courses are you taking? Do you know anything about tuition assistance?
